Infinity Hotel

Infinity Hotel

Weteringschans, Amsterdam (NL)

The reconstruction of the 'Peper- en Zoutstel' gave the vacant office building a new life. The design preserved the appearance of the monolithic facade while deepening the window reveals, enhancing its plasticity. By adding red-coloured bricks and creating a classical three partition in the façade, the buildings remain recognizable to their status quo while they create a harmonious relationship with their surrounding buildings, which did not exist before. In addition to the façade changes, there is also an extension that connects the two buildings. This extension, shaped like an infinity (or figure eight), connect the ground level with the hotel entrance and route along the Singelgracht. The void spaces within this form create a courtyard for greenery and leisure, resulting in a "wow" effect upon entering.
